Spaces / Listening bar
Listening bar
Records, warm wood, the volume kept low. The light should match: quiet, low, a little electric.

What a listening bar asks of its light
- Mood
- Low light by the decks and the records. A room that changes through the night needs dimmers.
- Sightlines
- Keep glare out of the DJ’s eyes and off the record sleeves.
- Practicalities
- Objects about sound and current, small enough for a booth shelf. One of them still plays music.
Rules of thumb from how we light these pieces. Ask us what we’d do in your room.
The shortlist
Every piece shown at close to the same size, so the details are easy to compare. The real sizes are under each one.

Where to put it
General rules of thumb, not our measurements. Your designer or electrician should confirm heights and wiring for your room.
Near seating
Put the dimmable pieces near the seating, where people stay longest.
The booth
Keep glare out of the DJ’s line of sight.
The Tuba
Stand the Tuba against a wall: it is only 17 cm deep.
No socket
Shuki FM charges by USB, so it can sit where there is no socket.
One Object, One Venue
Does your place already have its object?
- The bar’s first turntable.
- A speaker cabinet that no longer plays.
- A box of valves from a radio repair shop.
Examples to show the idea, not past projects.
We can turn it into the room’s own light, one of one like everything here.
Building a listening bar?
Tell me about the room. I’ll write back with the pieces that fit, their prices and a time to see them lit at the studio.
