Lights for places people come back to

I make lamps for cafes, bars, restaurants, hotels and offices, from pieces that already exist or from an object your place already owns. One piece for the entrance, or a family of them for the tables.

Not sure which?

You run or furnish a place and want finished pieces: you’re in the right place.

You have an object of your own to turn into a light: that’s a commission.

You’re a designer or architect: everything you need for a presentation is further down.

How it works

  1. Tell me about the room

A few lines, the city, how many pieces, when you need them. Photos help.

  2. I suggest pieces

From the collection: lit, with sizes, within a week. A new piece takes longer, and we agree the timing first.

  3. See them

At the studio in Friedrichshain, switched on, with your designer or your business partner if you like.

  4. Price and date, in writing

Delivery and installation in Berlin included in the quote.

Made for a place

The Pink Camel, Prenzlauer Berg

For a friend’s restaurant I drew a brass maze straight onto its red front, built it in the studio and hung it with little brass cups for plants. Then I brought him a camel warning sign from Sinai, and it became the light by the door.

That is what I can make for a place: something that belongs to it, or to its owner, turned into the piece nobody else has.

The maze laid out in masking tape on the red wall, each segment marked with its length

The brass lines reworked into a ceiling light for a hallway, its bulbs lit
When the restaurant closed, the brass came down and became two lights for the owner’s home. This one is in the hallway. Real photo.
The second light from the same brass, with a red disc and large glass bulbs, on a living-room ceiling

A family of lights for one room

The whole shelf, all 50

Three to five small pieces for the tables, each one of one, that read as a set because they share brass and warm light, not because they are the same object. Meters and a grinder, four heaters from four decades, telephones: whatever I can find in enough numbers. One statement piece over the bar finishes the room. Each piece keeps its own story. Together they give a place a character nobody else has.

Tell me the room and how many tables, and I’ll suggest a family that fits, and the one piece to finish it.

Three ways in

One piece that already exists

50 pieces, each one of one, lit and photographed, with real dimensions. The piece on the way in, or over the table people book.

A family for one room

Three to five related pieces, chosen together, for the tables, the bar or a row of booths.

One Object, One Venue

Your place’s own object

The old till, the first coffee machine, the founder’s radio. I turn it into a light that belongs only to your room. It is made as a commission, and I look after the rest of the room around it.

For designers and architects

What comes with every piece

  • Dimensions

Height, width and depth in centimetres, with the size lines drawn on the photo.

  • Lamping

Bulb type, number and wattage, and which switch does what.

  • Photos lit and unlit

So you can show your client both.

  • A spec sheet

Every piece page prints as one sheet with the photo, sizes and bulbs, ready for your presentation. Use “Print spec sheet” on the piece page.

  • An install note

Plug-in, or for wall and hanging pieces, what the electrician needs.

  • Rewired

New cables and sockets where a piece needs them.

Tell me about your room
