What is considered garbage for someone is a treasure in the eyes of another.

I came across this white phone. The lady who was selling it wrote that it holds sentimental value, and she likes to sell it to someone who might have a use for it, even though it doesn't function anymore. I thought to myself: I am this someone!

As we met, she held it like a precious doll and told me how it was the phone in her late parents' house, and that they used it until they died, because they never liked cell phones. I promised to take good care of it.

White Phone

When it became this funky table lamp, I sent a picture to the lady. Then happened something that never happened to me. The lady called me to say how happy she is, and thanked me over and over again.

The practical bits

Availability

This one has found its home. I keep finding telephones like it, so ask me: there may be another one waiting for you. Or bring an object of your own and I can make one like it: start a commission.

Wiring and safety

I rewire every piece with new cables and sockets. Plugs into a normal socket.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. The patina is part of the piece, so please don’t polish the original object. Made in my studio at Frankfurter Allee 6, Berlin.

One of the telephones

The whole shelf, all 50

Rotary phones, each one of one, that belong together on a row of tables. Each one is picked, taken apart and wired by hand; together they can light one room.
