Black Phone
Once a black telephone, now a table lamp.
A Bakelite telephone from the 1940s. The arm adjusts, so it is a reading lamp as well as a soft light on a sideboard.
AvailableOne of one. Price, delivery and a viewing on request.

Switch it on
The same piece photographed off and on, so you can see the light it makes.

Before it was a lamp
The black telephone as I found it, before anything was taken apart.
On the bench

Taken while it was being built. Every piece is taken apart, cleaned, rewired and set by hand.
The practical bits
Availability
Available now. Price, delivery and a time to see it lit, in my first reply. Collect it from the studio in Friedrichshain, or ask about delivery.
Wiring and safety
I rewire every piece with new cables and sockets. Plugs into a normal socket.
Care
Dust with a dry cloth. The patina is part of the piece, so please don’t polish the original object. Made in my studio at Frankfurter Allee 6, Berlin.
One of the telephones
The whole shelf, all 50Rotary phones, each one of one, that belong together on a row of tables. Each one is picked, taken apart and wired by hand; together they can light one room.
